I have taken the Branch Church from it’s first humble web presence back in 2005 through 3 redesigns to it’s current wordpress-y goodness. We started with a WordPress site way back when but 5 years ago WP couldn’t perform like the ninja we know it to be today. Back then WordPress didn’t even have a hack free way of setting a static “page” as the front page of a site. So after a couple of tweaks to the original WP site, we dove into a simple but powerful install of Drupal and life was good for a while. It wasn’t fancy but Drupal’s flexibility was unmatched at the time.

Three years later, it was time for the Branch to revamp their web copy to reflect their transition from a fledgling new church to, well, something else. They wanted a new look and feel to go with it. So, we settled on spending time on a new elegant vector logo and a super clean and attractive new WordPress site. Why go back to WordPress? Well, in my opinion WP come much farther in the past few years than other (perhaps more powerful) content management systems (like Drupal). WordPress has become a true and downright powerful CMS, yet has somehow retained it’s famous ease of use. So we happily returned to the ranks of a custom WordPress installation and the Branch couldn’t be happier. How do I know this? Well, I’m not just the web/graphic designer for the Branch, I’m also a co-pastor ;-)
